Hi, I'm Barbara!
I set up Barbara Grasso Speech and Language Therapy to do more of what I love: helping children develop their communication skills.

I support children with a variety of speech, language and communication needs.
Before going into independent practice, I worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS in a range of settings, including nurseries, children centres and community clinics. I have worked closely with Teachers, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other health professionals. I believe in a holistic approach, meaning I consider the whole child, not just their communication issues, to understand why they may need support.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Science, awarded in Brazil. I later obtained a Specialization in Voice, from Centro de Estudos da Voz (Centre for Voice Studies) in São Paulo, Brazil. I have also completed a number of specialist Speech Therapy and Voice training courses in the UK.
I worked for Evelina London, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, for five years. During this time, I became registered with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC). I am a certified member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP), and have an up-to-date enhanced DBS check.
I’m married and live in South East London with our toddler, Leonardo, who teaches me something new every day.
